My route into Reiki...

In 1997 I developed ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and could no longer work as a secondary school teacher. At this time there was no recognised treatment for the condition and it was known as 'yuppy flu'. Few doctors recognised it as a valid medical condition and many were of the opinion that it was a skiver's charter.

Prior to this illness I had never had time off work that required a sick note, yet here I was struggling to walk, some days unable to get out of bed and no end in sight - it was a bleak and worrying time for me. One doctor actually told me to get back to work and get on with it!

Whilst recovering from pneumonia, an ex-colleague contacted me and suggested I try a session of Reiki. She had recently learnt Reiki, found it to be very beneficial and thought I might benefit from it. I had one session of Reiki and was so amazed by what I experienced and how it made me feel that I quickly decided to learn it for myself so that I could self heal and, I hoped, get better.

Surprise...it worked!

Happily, it did just what I hoped and in an amazingly short space of time I regained my strength, stamina, health and happiness.

I will always be grateful to Reiki as it gave me back my life. To give thanks for this I decided to train as a Reiki practitioner and spread the word about Reiki by sharing it with other people.

I was guided to train to Master Teacher level and I love not only giving Reiki treatments to people but also teaching them to use this wonderful energy for themselves and others.

My qualifications

I am a Traditional Reiki Master Teacher, which means I am fully attuned, qualified and experienced in using the Usui Method of Natural Healing (Usui Shiki Ryoho). As well as giving Reiki treatments I teach and attune people who wish to learn how to heal themselves and others.

As a Reiki practitioner I offer Reiki Healing to those wishing to experience the phenomenal healing power of Reiki for themselves.

My experience

I have been teaching Reiki 1, 2, 3 and Master Teacher courses since 2000, and have attuned a wide variety of people from all over the British Isles as well as overseas. I run Reiki 1, 2, 3 and Master Teacher courses each month, as well as Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 Refresher courses for students who may wish to revise and refresh these levels of Reiki.

My teaching

I only teach Traditional Usui Reiki and my courses are taught in line with The Reiki Association guidelines. The certificates I award are recognised by The Reiki Association, The Reiki Federation, The Reiki Alliance and most major insurers of complementary therapies.

My ethos

I have benefited so much from Reiki that I take the teaching of Reiki very seriously. My main aim and hope is to enthuse and encourage all of my students, whatever the level of Reiki they learn, to use it often, for their greater good and the greater good of those around them.

Dr Usui re-discovered Reiki.

He devoted many years to learning about Reiki energy, eventually developing the natural healing system that we know as Traditional Usui Reiki and known as Usui Shiki Ryoho in Japan.

So, what is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing. The word Reiki means 'Universal Energy' and refers to the energy that flows in and around every living being. This is the same concept of energy that is described as 'chi' in China upon which Acupuncture works, 'prana' in India upon which Yoga focuses and 'ki' in Japan.

Reiki is a holistic and complementary therapy which offers powerful energy healing. Reiki helps relaxation and helps to relieve stress and tension. Reiki works holistically and may offer benefits to all areas of your life.

Reiki may support, encourage and enhance your body's natural ability to heal itself and works on many levels - your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects may all be enhanced with Reiki energy.

How may Reiki help you?

Reiki may:
  • loosen up blocked energy
  • promote a state of total relaxation
  • cleanse and balance the flow of energy in the body
  • support the body's natural ability to heal itself
  • relieve aches, pains, illness and disease
  • balance emotions and may help us let go of deep emotional patterns and ties
  • promote emotional healing
  • promote spiritual helaing

Our work, family and personal relationships may all benefit from Reiki
